Port Harcourt — The Rivers State House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N200 billion, after a third reading.

This is as Governor Siminalayi Fubara had forwarded to the House, the N200 billion Supplementary Appropriation Bill last Friday via a letter, which was read in the floor of the House by the Speaker.

The Bill on Wednesday was passed after the Ad-hoc Committee on Appropriation presented its report on the floor of the House, which was debated upon both in Plenary and Committee level.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martins Chike Amaewhule, while reporting progress on the Bill in Plenary, said the passage of the Bill was to encourage proper funding of the Port Harcourt Ring Road Project, and to ensure early commencement and completion of the project.

Amaewhule the approval would eliminate abandonment of projects which according to him, was in sync with the consolidation and continuity spirit of the administration.

The House further adjourned plenary to Monday, 10th July 2023.
