    Mkpoikana Udoma 20 June 2015, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – Rivers State Governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has inaugurated a Judicial Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice George Omerije to investigate the administration of former governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi with respect to the sale of valued assets of the state.

    A statement signed by the governor said the Commission, amongst other responsibilities, would investigate the sale of the Omoku 150 MW Gas Turbine , Afam 360 MW Gas Turbine,  Trans-Amadi 136 MW Gas Turbine and Eleme 75 MW Gas Turbine.
    The statement also said the Commission is to investigate the sales of Olympia Hotels, Monorail project and the illegal disbursement of 2 billion naira agriculture credit scheme and the withdrawal and expenditure of the accrued N96 billion from the Rivers State Reserve Fund without compliance with the extant law by the Amaechi administration.
    Governor Wike further directed the Commission to investigate the non-execution of the contract for the construction of the Justice Karibi White Hospital after the Amaechi administration paid $250 million to the contractor and mandated them to recover funds wrongfully disbursed on the failed project as well as funds illegally withdrawn from the State’s Reserve Fund.
    He emphasized to the Judicial Commission of Inquiry to make appropriate recommendations that would assist the State Government recover proceeds from the sale of the gas turbines.
