10 October 2011, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt- Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has praised the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited for relocating its headquarters to Rivers State, stating that the move was a clear testament that Rivers State was now conducive for investments and commercial business activities

Amaechi who met with the management team of the NLNG, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said his administration was committed to sustaining the peaceful atmosphere in the state while wooing other investors into the state.

He said the government will continue to improve on the environment, infrastructure and other facilities that will aid the growth of businesses in the State.

“We will do everything possible to ensure that every business is secured and the peaceful business atmosphere is sustained. We will also be ready to support you to make your stay peaceful and productive.”

On his part, Chairman of the company, Chief O. R. Long-John said the visit was to officially inform the governor of its move, pointing out that, “this is not the first time we tried to move. We tried in 2006, but because of militancy we could not.”

He disclosed that before the end of November the company will relocate fully as frantic effort is being made to provide accommodation and official space for its staff.

Managing Director of NLNG, Mr. Chima Ibeneche told Amaechi that the relocation had become necessary due to its social and economic benefits. “We are really happy that this time, we are on our way and we will arrive soon,” he said.

He gave kudos to the governor for the huge success recorded by his administration in security and provision of infrastructure, stating that the current peaceful clime in the State will provide the elixir for many businesses to thrive.
