18 August 2015, News Wires – Rosenberg WorleyParsons has reportedly laid off more workers as an industry slump has taken its toll on orders at the the Norwegian offshore yard.
A total of 67 workers have now been laid off and another four made redundant so far this year after another 57 lay-offs since May at the facility in western Norway, which was earlier acquired by Australian contractor WorleyParsons from Bergen Group.
A company spokeswoman told local publication Stavanger Aftenblad the yard is now competing for more maintenance and modification work, in particular on the so-called Capacity project at ConocoPhillips’ Ekofisk field off Norway as well as Total’s under-development Martin Linge field scheme, though the latter has been delayed.
Rosenberg WorleyParsons’ projects chief Jan Narvestad was quoted recently as saying the company is looking to expand its subsea business through a possible tie-up with a key market player.
