Port Harcourt — The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area in Rivers State, Barr. Philip Okparaji has provided a brand new 350KVA transformer to the people of Eteo community, as part of his administration’s rural electrification project.
The 350KVA transformer was received by the people of Eteo community through the Paramount Ruler, HRH, Emere Emmanuel Akobe, and other members of the Council of Chiefs and Elders.
Presenting the transformer, Okparaji, said the rural electrification project was an initiative for the development of Eleme LGA, as artisans, residents, business owners and the entire people of the area, will benefit from the project.
“Our position on development is clear, this transformer, others presented before now and more to come is for our people. I have said it, Eleme is ours and we must do all in our power to ensure her development.
“Artisans, residents, business owners and the entire people are the direct beneficiaries of the rural electrification project.”
Responding, the Paramount Ruler of Eteo, HRH Emmanuel Akobe, lamented that parts of the community have been without electricity supply for over eight months, while expressing gratitude for the transformer.
Akobe commended the council boss for the gesture, while praying for the Chairman and his administration.
“For over eight months we have not had electricity supply, I spend so much every month on generator. So to us, you have done noble, you have brought light, and light is life.
“Our support is with you, continue in this your methodology, we have seen your passion and we urge you to stay focused, don’t pay attention to distractions, we are seeing you, we are with you.”
