News wire — Russia’s finance ministry on Friday said that switching gas export payments to roubles would allow the domestic fuel industry to count on uninterrupted inflows of export revenues and the federal budget to receive stable tax payments.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered Gazprom to accept payment in roubles for its natural gas exports to Europe and the gas behemoth has four days left to work out how to move over billions of dollars in sales, the Kremlin said.
