    Sahara Energy’s Tonye Cole wins Rivers APC guber ticket

    Port Harcourt — Sahara Energy’s Tonye Cole has won the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries in Rivers State.

    Cole defeated four other candidates to emerge as the party’s governorship candidate in the state for the 2023 general elections.

    He polled a total of 986 votes to defeat four others rivals, namely Ojukaye Flag Amachree, Seconte Davies, Ibinabo West and Benrard Mikko, who got 190, 47, 43 and 2 votes to come a distant second, third and fouth respectively.

    Although, a former Board member of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Senator Magnus Abe, had withdrawn from the APC primaries, he was still able to clinched 1 vote.

    The Chairman, Rivers State APC Governorship Primaries Election, Mr Larry Odey, who announced the results said a total of 1308 delegates were accredited, 1295 votes were casted, 1285 votes were valid and while 12 votes were invalid.

    Meanwhile the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State and former Chairman of Sahara Energy, Arc Tonye Cole, has promised to industrialized the State when elected in 2023.

    Cole specifically commended the former Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as well as members of the party in state for the success of the gubernatorial primaries.

    “I want to assure the people of Rivers State that what you’re seeing here today is the change for a better Rivers State. We are brining dignity back to Rivers State

    “APC is on a mission in Rivers State to bring hope to the hopeless; to bring back a future for our youths; to open up an environment where young people can express their talents; to bring back industralization to this state.”
