03 May 2013, Abuja – The Senate failed, Thursday, to hold hearing on a petition by Delta State communities alleging illegal transfer of four oil blocks valued at N58.9 trillion to a private company.
Four Delta State communities are alleging clandestine transfer of production rights in four oil blocks – OMLs 26. 30, 34 and 42 – to a private company, Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited, by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
The hearing was to have been conducted by the Senate Committee on Petroleum, Upstream. It failed to hold due the absence of the petitioners.
The petitioners sent a letter to the Senator Paulker Emmanuel-led Committee, saying yesterday (Thursday) was not convenient for them due to other engagements n their part.
