    Seplat gets new director

    27 February 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc has announced the appointment of Effiong Okon as Executive Operations Director of the company.

    His appointment took effect from February 23, 2018.

    Mr. Okon has over 26 years of experience in oil and gas having undertaken a breadth of senior technical and leadership roles with Shell during that time, both in Nigeria and internationally.

    “He has proven expertise in successfully developing and operating upstream oil and integrated gas projects in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East regions”, Seplat said in a statement to the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE.

    During his time at Shell, he was General Manager for Deepwater Production for Shell Nigeria, winning best asset in Shell’s global portfolio in 2016 for his work on the large-scale offshore Bonga field.

    In addition, he was deputy Vice President for the upstream gas supply to the Qatar GTL and LNG megaprojects.

    Mr. Okon graduated from the University of Benin in Petroleum Engineering in 1991.

    Commenting on the new appointment, Austin Avuru, Seplat’s Chief Executive Officer, described Okon as a “great addition” to the company.

    “We are pleased to welcome Effi to Seplat. He brings a wealth of relevant operational experience from 26 years in the industry with Shell and has an in-depth understanding of the Nigerian sector coupled with international experience.
