Lagos — The Director-General/Chief Executive of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, led the Nigerian delegation to the 31st Annual National Ethanol Conference, NEC, held in Orlando, Florida, USA.

The conference, a premier global gathering of key stakeholders in the ethanol industry, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, investors, and regulators to discuss developments, innovations, and policy directions shaping the future of ethanol production and renewable energy.

The 31st edition of the conference was held under the theme “Ethanol Unleashed.” According to the Renewable Fuels Association, RFA, President and CEO, Geoff Cooper, the annual Outlook and Pocket Guide publications serve as authoritative sources of ethanol industry information, facts, and statistics.

He noted that ethanol continues to prove its value in addressing critical global challenges, including improving air quality, reducing carbon emissions, and cutting costs for consumers.

Dr. Okeke’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions, strengthening standardization frameworks, and exploring opportunities for collaboration in the renewable fuels sector. The engagement also aligns with SON’s mandate to ensure quality assurance, promote industrial development, and support environmentally responsible production practices.

The Nigerian delegation’s presence at the conference provided a platform for knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, and insight into global best practices that can support the growth of Nigeria’s biofuel and renewable energy industries.
