South Sudan Oil & Power is where energy deals are made in 2023

Juba, South Sudan — Energy Capital & Power, ECP, is excited to announce that the South Sudan Oil & Power, SSOP, 2023 Conference & Exhibition – the sixth edition and longest-running event organized by ECP – will take place in Juba on June 14-16, 2023.

The organizer is proud to work with the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Energy and Dams and other ministries to produce this important national event.

Positioning South Sudan as the nexus of East African petroleum exploration and production, innovation and energy cooperation, SSOP invites investors to engage in opportunities across South Sudan’s upstream, midstream, gas, mining, power, trading, services, and infrastructure sectors. As the country continues to stabilize and grow, now is the time to initiate and take forward critical investments.

In recent months, South Sudan has emerged as a central actor in regional energy cooperation, attracting interest from leading oil and gas players, including a recent visit with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry in October and the announcement on 12 December 2022 of Savannah Energy’s investment in the country. South Sudan is looking to global partners– along with regional counterparts in the Nile Basin and East African Community – to develop its abundant natural resources and foster infrastructure development across the entire energy value chain.

“South Sudan is entering a new stage of its growth and development. Global partners like the US, UK, China, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Norway, Egypt, Turkey and others are reassessing opportunities in the country based on energy market needs and conditions on the ground. SSOP 2023 will connect South Sudan to regional and global stakeholders, taking that early interest forward into tangible, industry-advancing deals. We are honored to return to Juba for a sixth edition that promises to deliver new deals, new investments and new relationships,” states Laila Bastati, Managing Director of ECP.

Last year’s edition of SSOP emphasized the role of South Sudan as East Africa’s only major oil producer, taking place under the theme, “The Gateway to East African Energy.” Owing to its strategic geographic location that bridges the Nile Basin and Rift Valley areas, South Sudan represents the logical exploration and service hub for the entire East African and Nile Basin petroleum industry, which also houses emerging producers like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Uganda and Kenya.
