3 September, 2011, Sweetcrude, WARRI – THE Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Warri , Delta State, has urged members of public not to engage in panic-buying whenever there is sign of scarcity of petroleum products in the state.
Chairman of the association, Chief Akopvire Edafevwotu who gave the advice while briefing newsmen at the end of its general meeting, weekend, said that rumours of diversion of petroleum products by members were untrue.
His words, “As business people, I charge members to do their business within the ambient of the regulations, I urged the public against panic buying of products whenever there is any little sign of scarcity, we are doing all we can to ensure that products get to the public all the time.”
“I am not aware of product diversion anywhere in our units, we don’t divert product, sometimes, we do supply diesel to companies after getting necessary approval, which is not diversion. Diesel is regulated; you can buy anywhere and supply it to wherever you want”, he said.
Edafevwotu commended the national leaders of the association for reconciling their differences, which almost tore the organization apart and advised members against going to court to settle issues.
