Since leaving office in 2015, Diezani Alison-Madueke has been implicated in bribery, fraud, misuse of public funds, and money laundering cases in Nigeria, Britain, Italy and the United States.

The court was urged as a matter of utmost urgency and public interest, in aid of administration of justice to issue a worldwide Mareva order restraining the defendants from dissipating all known assets directly or indirectly by the defendants including but not limited to assets listed on the face of the motion paper filed before the court.
The two businessmen allegedly purchased millions of dollars worth of property in and near London for the oil minister and her family and then furnished the homes with furniture, artwork and other luxury items from Houston-area stores that she fancied.
Mr. Aluko is avoiding Nigerian authorities who tried to freeze his assets in February as part of a money-laundering probe that also involves ex-Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, an ally of Mr. Aluko.
According to him, the oil marketing companies – Auctus Investment Ltd., Northern Belt Gas and Mid-Western Oil and Gas – along with one Leonor Olaitan, were used by Diezani to lodge $89m out of the $115m in the bank.
The bribe was allegedly meant to compromise electoral officers ahead of the 2015 general elections which the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party lost to the now ruling All Progressives Congress.

“Mr. Senate President, as I speak with you, those involved in Alison-Madueke’s clique are on the run and some are undergoing trial with her in the United Kingdom,” Magu revealed. He added, “They are on the run at the moment but we will get them.”
The seized money, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was stolen from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and stashed in three banks in Nigeria, in US dollars and Naira.
