The poll has revealed that the overall monthly tracking on the state of power supply to Nigerian households over this six months period (July to December) clearly revealed a persistent decline in power supply from the month of October to December 2016.
It specifically noted its disappointment that electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) which took over from the erstwhile Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) are performing worse than their predecessors.
SERAP also noted that allegations of corruption in the energy sector have “resulted in the epileptic and interrupted supply of electricity and corresponding deprivation and denial of the citizens’ access to quality healthcare, adequate food, shelter, clothing, water, sanitation, medical care, schooling, and access to information.”
