Kachikwu regretted that Nigeria remains one of the biggest oil producing countries in the world that still suffers fuel scarcity.
KEDC said that in the last six months, eleven transformers were burnt and investigation by the company revealed that some customers, obviously for selfish reason, connects power supply from two different transformers, thereby causing short-circuit in the transformers.
Johnson said that it was imperative for the Federal Government to take ownership of its infrastructure like pipelines to curtail incidence of vandalism “because that is the main threat.”
The Minister said, “The attack on the Forcados Export Terminal that has affected gas production by oil firms and reduced gas supply to power generating plants and the shutdown of the Utorogu gas plant are totally condemnable and cannot be allowed to continue.”
The Company stressed that when there is limited power available to it, load shedding to its customers in the FCT as well as other states in the company’s franchise area become inevitable.
