Port Harcourt — The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, says it has energized and commissioned a new 100MVA power transformer at its 132/33kV Ihovbor Work Centre in Edo State.

The newly energized 100MVA transformer, according to TCN, replaced one of the existing transformers, increasing the substation’s capacity which one previously 120MVA, by an additional 40MVA.

TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the development was part of the federal government’s intervention in boosting bulk power transmission nationwide.

“Previously, the Ihovbor Transmission Substation had two 60MVA power transformers with a capacity of 120MVA. The newly energized 100MVA transformer replaced one of the existing transformers, increasing the substation’s capacity by an additional 40MVA.

“With this upgrade, TCN has increased the bulk power supply available to Benin DisCo to offtake for onward distribution to its customers,” Mbah said.
