Lagos — Chief technical officer, Ikeja Electric, Olajide Kumapayi, has announced the re-conduction of the 132kv lines by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN.

At a meeting with journalists, Kumapayi said the upgrade would commence from Monday, October 11 through the month.

While disclosing the plan at Ikeja Electric headquarters in Lagos, he said the work will affect power supply to some areas around Ikeja and Ota West.

He said: “The TCN is currently embarking on upgrade of 132kv lines, which is divided into four stages of which the second stage is the replacement of the 132kv lines, which will bring about the improvement for proper supply of power to the customers as well as offering excellent conductor capacity which can handle high voltage.”

According to him, the upgrade was necessitated by the weakness of the 132kv lines, which could no longer carry high voltage electricity.

Other areas such as Police Technical College, Ogba area, Omole   Phase 1, Oba Akran, Oke Ira, Anifowoshe, Magodo and parts of Ikeja and Ota West are expected to experience disruptions in power supply as a result of the upgrade.
