13 June 2013 – Basic Energy Services is trying to get the word out about “significant” thefts of tools and equipment at a number of Texas wellsites and is offering a $25,000 reward, it said on an industry website this week.
The Fort Worth-headquartered company has experienced at least four robberies at various Texas sites late in February, March, April and May, according to a post of the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (LOGA).
Left missing have been tongs, slips and elevators, as well as pipe and crescent wrenches, sledge hammers and other hand tools like screwdrivers and hacksaws.
Combined goods stolen were valued at over $100,000, according to company documents. Employee uniforms and boots also disappeared, as did diesel fuel.
Other service companies have also been hit, according to Basic, which did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.
