Port Harcourt — The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Tin-Can Island Port Command, has achieved a historic milestone, collecting N159 billion in August 2025, its highest-ever monthly revenue.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, announced the record during a decoration ceremony for newly promoted officers at the command headquarters.
Onyeka attributed the performance to the deployment of the indigenous B’Odogwu trade platform, which has enhanced trade facilitation and boosted collections.
“Everybody here is part of this achievement, but to whom much is given, much is expected. I sincerely appreciate the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for recognising the contributions of officers,” Onyeka said.
He disclosed that 87 percent of officers from the command who participated in the recent promotion examinations scaled through. Among them was the command’s Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara, who was promoted from Superintendent to Chief Superintendent of Customs.
The Controller urged officers who did not make the promotion list to remain steadfast. “Their turn will come,” he assured, while commending the dedication of personnel that helped deliver the record-breaking revenue.
Onyeka reaffirmed the command’s commitment to trade facilitation and revenue protection, stressing that the achievement underscores Tin-Can’s role as a critical hub for Nigeria’s non-oil revenue generation.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, family members, and stakeholders, who joined in celebrating the twin milestones of record revenue performance and career progression within the command.
