18 May 2013 – The aggregate number of oil and gas rigs drilling in the US remained unchanged this week, staying at 1769 for the second straight week, according to data from Houston-based services giant Banker Hughes.
Oil-directed rigs fell by four for a total of 1409 and gas-directed rigs rose by four for a total of 354.
Among states, Oklahoma lost the most most rigs with three for a total of 187. Kansas was flat on 28.
Texas was down one on 837. The Eagle Ford lost four rigs for a total of about 303. The Permian basin was down one on 394.
Arkansas was flat on 15. New Mexico lost two for 75.
Louisiana was flat on 106. Mississippi was flat on 12.
Colorado lost one for 62. Wyoming gained three for 43. Utah was flat on 29.
North Dakota gained three for 179. Montana was flat on 10.
Illinois was flat on four, having gained one last week.
Pennsylvania lost two for 27. West Virginia was flat on 23.
Ohio was up one for 33.
California was flat on 41. Alaska gained one for nine.
