Port Harcourt — A call has been made to importers in the country, to patronize Onne seaport by taking advantage of the lower tariff rate at the port, in order to boost maritime activities in Rivers State.
The Rivers Entrepreneurs and Investors Forum, who made the call, said Onne seaport was functional, while expressing optimism that the skeletal operation of Lagos seaport, would foster maritime businesses in the Eastern ports.
President of the group, Ibifiri Bob-Manual, also expressed optimism that the ongoing infrastructural development in the state, will enhance investment and also open bigger opportunities for entrepreneurs to grow their business and improve the state’s economy.
Bob-Manual charged political leaders in Rivers State to put political differences aside, by working towards attracting investors and investment into the state.
He also tasked Rivers people to maximize the opportunities in the ongoing construction projects in the state, instead of debating on upland and riverine differences.
