11 November 2014 – Dutch contractor Van Oord has won an engineering, procurement and construction contract from Shell to replace a dual oil export pipeline off Gabon.
The company will use its shallow-water pipelay barge Stingray on the job that is set to begin this month.
Van Oord will be replacing an existing 30-inch, 10-kilometre dual pipeline running from Gamba terminal 200 kilometres south of Port-Gentil to a pipeline end manifold (PLEM).
The new pipeline will be 22-inch system with pigging facilities to allow for inspection and cleaning to be carried out.
The contract runs up until next summer.
No value was given for the deal by Van Oord.
