Lagos — Veson Nautical (Veson), the global market leader of maritime freight management solutions, Wednesday announced the appointment of Emily Edwards as Vice President of Product for Veson’s Data Intelligence solutions, strengthening its mission to be the standard platform that propels maritime commerce.
Following a series of strategic company acquisitions over the past 36 months, the new position of VP of Data Intelligence Solutions is the latest investment from Veson Nautical in the maritime data space and marks the next step in Veson’s strategy to unite the maritime supply chain through standardized data intelligence.
Emily brings over a decade of experience in data and analytics product management and strategic development as well as an MS in Systems Engineering and an MBA specialized in Supply Chain and Operations from MIT. In her new role, Emily will be responsible for overseeing global product development and integration for Veson’s data and analytics solutions, which includes Shipfix, VesselsValue, Q88, and Oceanbolt. Leveraging her expertise leading large scale data and analytics product development at companies such as Wood Mackenzie, PowerAdvocate and Starburst, she will drive innovation and lead initiatives to enhance Veson’s offerings, ensuring that clients have access to cutting-edge solutions that optimize their operations and drive business growth.
Eric Christofferson, Chief Product Officer of Veson Nautical said: “Emily’s proven track record of delivering innovative products and her deep understanding of managing big data sets make her the ideal leader to drive the future of our data intelligence solutions. Her strategic vision and passion for delivering value to customers align perfectly with Veson’s commitment to providing best-in-class solutions that empower our clients to succeed in an increasingly complex and dynamic market.”
Prior to joining Veson Nautical, Emily worked for 10 years at PowerAdvocate, where she directed the Energy Intelligence Group before becoming General Manager for Power Advocate’s Speed Analytics and Data Science division. Following its acquisition by Wood Mackenzie, she joined the Executive Leadership Team and contributed towards the transformation vision, architecture, and roadmap to integrate data and analytical products across their combined portfolio. Most recently, she worked at Starburst, overseeing company product development for the end-to-end analytics platform.
Emily Edwards, the Vice President of Product Data Intelligence of Veson Nautical, said: “Many maritime stakeholders are struggling with overload of unstructured and unqualified data, trying to make strategic and market-beating decisions without clear analytics. I’m excited to join Veson Nautical, as they are taking strides forward in creating the first united maritime dataset that can be used across the entire industry. I am impressed by Veson’s commitment to innovation and their dedication to delivering value to customers. I look forward to leading the development of our Data Intelligence solutions and contributing to Veson’s continued success.”
Emily’s appointment comes at a time of continued growth for Veson Nautical, who have invested heavily in data and analytical solutions over the last three years, having acquired Shipfix in December 2023, VesselsValue in April 2023, Q88 in May 2022 and Oceanbolt in September 2021. Under Veson’s suite of Data and Analytic products, maritime stakeholders can purchase data access to each individual data solution or can add data packages to their existing IMOS platform access.
