14 July 2012, Sweetcrude, ABUJA—AS the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, awaits the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development to furnish it with information on states, which generated the N1.7 billion from solid minerals currently in its possession, the latter has given reason why the former cannot share the revenue now.
The commission had, last week, hinted that it could not share the N1.7 billion solid minerals fund in its possession to the federal and state governments because the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development was yet to furnish it with information on states, where the resources were generated, so that the states can get their 13 percent derivation.
However, Minister of Mines, Mr. Mohammed Sada, Thursday, in Abuja, said the commission would have to wait because the ministry was still collecting data with a view to determining the states where the resources were generated.
He explained that it was difficult to get detailed data in respect of the issue as expected by the commission and assured that the ministry would soon provide the commission with necessary information that would assist it in its statutory assignment in this regard.
