24 September 2015, News Wires – UK services player Wood Group has landed a contract to supply a simulator to aid training for control of deep-water well control incidents in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) has hired Wood to provide the operator training simulator to be located at its onshore plant in Corpus Christi, Texas.
“It will be used to train operators who will be involved in the deployment of MWCC’s well containment equipment if capture operations are required for an incident response,” Wood said.
Wood Group Kenny proprietary software, VP Link and Virtuoso, will be used to simulate both subsea and topside processes during well containment efforts.
Wood Group Kenny chief executive Bob MacDonald said: “Providing the technology to help train those responsible for tackling well control incidents in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico is a very important project. We will utilise our extensive experience in software and simulation to support this safety effort.”
