6 September 2011, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Operations have commenced in seven of the eight units at the Olorunsogo Power Station Phase 1 in Ogun State, Mr Cdon Adinuba, the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, has said.
He made this known in Lagos, saying power generation had increased from the previous 50 megawatts in the last two years, to 160 megawatts. Adinuba said seven of the eight units had been repaired as part of the minister’s efforts to ensure that all power stations were working effectively.
In the last one year, only two of the eight units had been working. The special adviser said that the last unit was in bad shape, adding that it would also undergo repairs. “Government wants to ensure that all the problems of power stations across the country are solved before December to meet up its promise of generating 5,000 megawatts.
“The management is working effectively well to see that all the units are restored back to full capacity,” he said. Each of the units has 32 megawatts installed capacity but could only generate 22 megawatts.
