    US, Canada water experts to partner Ijaw group on development

    29 September, 2011, Sweetcrude, WARRI –A group of water and sanitation experts from the United States of America and Canada has promised to partner the Egbema/Gbaramatu Central Development Committee, EGCDC, Warri, Delta State, a growth catalyst, powered by the Cheveron Nigeria Limited, CNL, to fast-track development in Ijaw communities in Warri North, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas.

    The team, led by Rotarian Nancy Gilber made the pledge recently when it toured selected water and sanitary projects embarked upon by EGCDC in some Ijaw communities. Also in the team were Dr. Bill Stumbaugh, Mr. Jim Goodrich and Rotarian Andrew.

    The group under the auspices of Water and Sanitary Rotary Aid Group, WSRAG, visited the riverine communities of Oporoza, Benukrukru, Kokodiagbene, Olougbene, Perewo, Adagbrassas, Opuama and Tsekelewu communities .

    According to Rotarian Gilbert, “The communities need improvement in the areas of sanitation and education due to some serious challenges.”

    She expressed delight at at the opportunity to partner the EGCDC, saying the group marvelled at the achievemnts of EGDC within a very short time.

    EGDC chairman, Mr. Edmund E. Doyah-Tiemo commended the group for the promise to partner the council on development, saying that it was the transparency, accountability and integrity policy of the council that had attracted the group.
