    17 ships waiting to discharge fuel at Lagos ports

    13 December 2012, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Seventeen ships are waiting to discharge petroleum products at various oil terminals within the Lagos ports, the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has said.

    NPA, in its daily publication, “Shipping Position”, made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Lagos, said that nine of the 17 ships would discharge petrol; five would discharge aviation fuel, while three would discharge diesel.

    The document also indicated that five ships would discharge bulk sugar and rice.
    NPA reported that 82 ships carrying different cargoes would sail into the ports between December12 and 30.

    It said that that 11 of the expected ships would arrive with petroleum products.
    The document indicated that 14 other ships would sail in with new and used vehicles.

    The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the remaining ships would sail in with containers, used and new vehicles, fresh fish, rice, containers, sugar and general cargoes.

    NAN reports that other ships would arrive with bulk wheat, steel products, base oil, bulk malt and petroleum products.

    The report said that 25 ships are presently discharging containers of wheat, general cargo, rice, fresh fish, salt and petroleum products.
