01 November 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos – The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, has announced the introduction of a new payment system for its service boat operations.

The company said in a notice obtained by SweetcrudeReports that all payments for the service boats operation would henceforth be made to only two banks – Fidelity Bank and Zenith Bank.

It said “such payments should include company name, vessel name, bill number, date of movement and location of operation”.

The notice listed Citibank NA as the corresponding bank for Fidelity Bank transactions and Citibank NA, Canada Square and Canada Wharf London as corresponding banks for Zenith Bank transactions.

In another development, the NPA’s Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman, has pledged that the agency would partner with Women in ANLCA (Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents) to guide the agency in making policy decisions on ports operations.

Usman made the pledge when she received a delegation of Women in ANLCA led by its governor, Hajia Bola Muse, at the NPA corporate headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

“I would like to say that in Nigerian Ports Authority, we believe in partnership and collaboration, we believe that there is a need for the Authority to reach out to critical stakeholders and partner with them in any way we can.

“We understand and appreciate your knowledge in the industry and we know there is value in any relationship we have with you. Your knowledge, and your operational experience in the industry would help guide the Authority,” she said.

On her appointment as the matron of the association, the Managing Director declared: “I am touched and honoured for appointing me as a matron. I am available for you and I will play my role as the matron excellently”.
