20 February 2018, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – There was drama in the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday as an Ogoni group seeking justice against the execution of late environmentalist, Ken Saro Wiwa, and eight other Ogoni sons, protested at the court premises over failure of the matter to be heard.

The Ken Saro-Wiwa Associates, KSA, said the demonstration was necessitated by the non-listing of the matter which the court had earlier scheduled for hearing on Monday.
The National Coordinator of KSA,  Chief Gani Topba, alleged that the disappearance of the matter from suits scheduled for the day, was aimed at denying Ken Saro-Wiwa and the other eight Ogoni leaders justice.
Topba alleged ploys to deny Ogoni justice in the matter, maintaining that the nine Ogoni sons were executed by late General Sani Abacha unjustly and unlawfully.
According to him, “We decided to protest because we came here today only to find out that the matter that was scheduled to be heard today, has been removed from the list of matters to be heard today.
“We are seeking the court to declare that Ken Saro-Wiwa and the other eight persons were killed unjustly but the court is trying to deny us justice.”
It will be recall that the group had appealed the ruling of a Port Harcourt Federal High which had struck out their prayer that Ken Saro-Wiwa and the eight other Ogoni be declared innocent on technical ground.
