12 July 2018, News Wires — Spain’s imports of liquefied natural gas percent dropped 7.8 percent in June on a yearly basis as pipeline supplies from Algeria rose, according to the data provided by the LNG terminal operator, Enagás.

LNG imports reached some 13.8 terawatt hours (TWh) in June as compared to 15 TWh in the same month the year before, the data shows.

Total natural gas imports, including piped supplies, rose 9 percent to 32 TWh. Pipeline supplies from Algeria increased 57 percent on year to almost 16 TWh.

Nigeria was the biggest LNG supplier to Spain last month with 3.7 TWh, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with 3.3 TWh. Nigerian LNG volumes halved when compared to June in 2017.

The rest of Spain’s June LNG imports were sourced from Algeria (1.9 TWh), Qatar (1.8 TWh), Russia (1.1 TWh), Norway (0.9 TWh) and Peru (0.87 TWh), according to the Enagás data.

The Barcelona regasification plant received eighth LNG cargoes out of the total 17 cargoes imported into Spain during the month under review.

Huelva handled four LNG cargoes in June while three were unloaded at the Bilbao facility.

The Cartagena and Mugardos facilities received one cargo of the chilled fuel, each.
