    Oil theft: NOSDRA records 229 cases of vandalism in 2019

    Port Harcourt — A total of 229 cases of pipeline vandalism was recorded in Rivers State in the year 2019 alone, the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, has said.

    Zonal Director of NOSDRA, Cyrus Nkangwung, gave the figure in Port Harcourt while speaking to newsmen.

    Nkangwung said the annual report by the agency indicates that activities of vandalism in Rivers State, increased in the year 2019 compared to the reports in 2018.

    The NOSDRA Zonal boss disclosed that the volume of crude oil spilled as a result of sabotage in the year under review was scary.

    He reiterated the need for public enlightenment to bring an end to pipeline vandalism in the state.
