Port Harcourt — The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has commended the Federal Government and the organised labour for shelving its planned nationwide strike and giving room for dialogue and negotiations.
National Public Relations Officer of IPMAN, Chinedu Ukadike, said Labour putting the strike on hold pending negotiations, was a good advice given by the National President of IPMAN, Sanusi Abdu, when he was consulted.
Ukadike assured motorists in Rivers State of abundance of petrol and other petroleum products, while warning against panic buying as NNPC, according to him, has put measures in place to ensure non scarcity of products.
“So for the organized Labor to listen to our amiable President and shove the planned strike, I really commend them.
“And for the federal government to listen to the plea of stakeholders to engage the organised labour, it shows the Buhari administration is sensitive to the plight of the people.”
IPMAN, however, expressed disappointment that her National President, Sanusi Abdu, was not part of the committee set up by the Federal Government to look into the issues raised by labour.
“IPMAN controls 90percent of petroleum distribution channels and regulates prices of petroleum in line with the deregulation, so I appeal to the federal government to always consider us and include us in such process.’’
On the plans by the Federal Government to convert cars to run on gas instead of fuel, IPMAN commended the Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, for the proposed development.
“The minister has been assiduously working hard to ensure that some of our filling stations are been converted to gas stations and also some of our cars been converted to gas, so we won’t be dependent on fuel.
“It is a good invention and we commend him,” IPMAN said.
