    India to spearhead Asian ammonia capacity additions through 2025

    Lagos — India is expected to register the highest ammonia capacity additions in Asia between 2022 and 2026, contributing more than 50% of the total capacity additions by 2026, forecasts GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

    GlobalData’s report, ‘Global Ammonia Industry Outlook to 2026 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Active and Planned Plants’, reveals that India has 12 new-build and expansion projects with capacity additions of about 6.97 mtpa by 2026.

    Vinuthna Bidar, Oil and Gas Analyst at GlobalData, says: “In India, majority of the capacity additions are from Reliance Industries Jamnagar Ammonia Plant, with a capacity of 1.50 mtpa. It is expected to commence production in 2025.”

    Matix Fertilisers & Chemicals Panagarh Ammonia Plant 2 is the second highest contributor in terms of capacity additions with a capacity of 0.83 mtpa each by 2026. It is operated by Matix Fertilisers & Chemicals Ltd.

    Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Barauni Ammonia Plant, Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Sindri Complex Ammonia Plant 2, Paradeep Phosphates Limited Paradip Ammonia Plant and Talcher Fertilizers Talcher Ammonia Plant are the third highest plants in terms of capacity additions in the country with the capacity of 0.73 mtpa by 2026.
