Port Harcourt — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in Rivers State says the fight against pipeline vandalism, oil theft and illegal dealings in petroleum products will continue relentlessly until the state is totally rid of such economic sabotage.
This was made known in a statement made available to the newsmen by NSCDC Public Relations Officer in the state, DSC Olufemi Ayodele, during a courtesy visit of the Commandants of Nigerian Navy College Onne, to the Rivers State Command Headquarters of the Corps.
The Naval Commandants, Solomon Anabraba and Abubakar Abubakar Umar, were both received by the NSCDC Assistant Commandant General in charge of Zone L, ACG James Bassey.
Speaking, Navy Commander Solomon Anabraba lauded the NSCDC Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for prioritizing training and re-training of personnel of the Corps.
Anabraba stressed that the efficiency in service delivery of any military or paramilitary formation was centered on adequate security trainings, adding that the visit to NSCDC was imperative, following the cordial relationship enjoyed by the two agencies.
“We as an organization have enjoyed good working relationship with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps overtime and as we assumed Office as Commandants of the Nigeria Navy College Onne, Rivers State;it is central and germane that we pay courtesy call to the Zonal Commander and the State Commandants of NSCDC in Rivers State.”
Responding, NSCDC Zonal Commander, Zone L, ACG James Bassey commended the Nigerian Navy for sustaining the already existing synergy by handling over arrested suspected vandals to the Corps for prosecution from time to time.
Bassey commended the renewed vigor of the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who in his magnanimity gave three utility vehicles to the Rivers State Command.
While commissioning the vehicles, ACG Bassey also commended the officers and men of Rivers State Command for giving unalloyed support to the State Commandant.
For his part, Rivers State Commandant of NSCDC, Abu Tambuwal, affirmed that the Rivers State Command would continue to wage war against economic saboteurs in the State.
“Our operations is in tandem with the Commandant General’s vision to eradicate the manace of vandalism of oil pipelines and illegal dealings in petroleum products across the nation.
“Therefore, anyone involved either directly or indirectly in such unscrupulous business should either stop and find lawful means of livelihood or risk being arrested and prosecuted accordingly.”
