According to the oil firm, the scholarship process will run from August 19 till November 19, 2022, across the 112 host communities of OML30, for secondary schools and university applicants in the 2021/2022 academic season.

HOESL’s General Manager Government, Joint Venture and External Relations, Mr Sola Adebawo, said that about 800 scholars will benefit from 2022 batch of the scholarship initiative.

Adebawo noted that since inception in 2012, the OML 30 scholarship scheme has supported over 4,300 scholars from the 112 host communities ensuring access to quality education in secondary schools and universities.

He explained that the OML 30 scholarship scheme was one of the social obligation initiatives by HEOSL in its areas of operation.

According to him, the company’s social performance efforts are targeted at the thematic areas of education, health and economic empowerment.

He pointed out that the Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Energy, Mr Ado Oseragbaje, considers education as critical to national development.

“This is why we are committed to supporting educational development in the communities neighbouring our operations as well as in Delta State in general.”

The oil firm further said that the scholarship initiative was in line with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-4) on education.
