Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has said that building the capacities of Nigerians remains a key mandate of the Board.

This is as the NCDMB has sensitized members of oil and gas host communities in Ondo State on the Board’s Community Content Guideline, CCG.

Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote, in his presentation at the workshop on the CCG in Akure Ondo State on Tuesday, gave an introduction on the establishment of the Board and how the Board has increased local content from 5 percent to about 54 percent.

Wabote represented by NCDMB General Manager, Corporate Communications and Zonal Coordination, Engr. Ginah O. Ginah, noted that the objective of the workshop was to develop a pool of skilled and competent workforce for the oil and gas industry and its service sectors.

He reeled out the various NCDMB’s capacity building trainings, namely “Direct Intervention, Project Based, Collaborative and Remedial Training,” noting that the trainings to be undertaken are preceded by needs assessment to identify skill gaps, needs and opportunities.

The NCDMB boss also highlighted the objectives of the CCG which according to him, is to achieve; “Structured engagement of youths in host communities in productive endeavors including employment, training, services, supplies, manufacturing and contracts.

“Establish critical infrastructure to stimulate development in host communities.

“Attract new businesses to strategic locations in host communities, as well as sustain growth of host community entrepreneurs through fund and policy support.”

He further explained the Community Content Framework which has four broad pillars, including “Project Office and Community Offices, Employment and Human Capital Development, Procurement of Goods and Services Funding.”

Earlier, the Zonal Coordinator, Ondo State, NCDMB, Mr Joseph Adebayo, thanked participants at the workshop for coming to learn more about the Board and the Board’s Community Content Guidelines.
