Lagos — The federal government has revealed Nigeria’s Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy for the country’s aviation sector at the UN Climate Change Conference, COP 28 UAE, in Dubai.
The Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, revealed this in a statement through his Special Adviser on Digital Media, Gbenga Saka.
The statement emphasised the significance of the strategy, describing it as a testament to Nigeria’s steadfast commitment to adopting sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.
“In a moment of privilege and honour, he officially launched Nigeria’s Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy. This document serves as a testament to the nation’s unwavering dedication to achieving sustainable and environmentally responsible practices,” the statement read.
Keyamo highlighted the country’s commitment to transitioning from fossil fuels to low-emission fuels, aligning with the global net-zero goals across all sectors of the economy.
The Long-Term Low-Emission Development Strategy is created to advance sustainable economic progress, successfully tackle climate change challenges, and stimulate low-carbon growth.
He accentuated the event as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward a low-carbon future.
The launch solidifies Nigeria’s position in the global environmental movement, showcasing the country’s commitment to proactive climate action.
