Port Harcourt — The Federal Government has declared that it will intensify efforts to make electricity supply a fundamental human right for all Nigerians, as part of its policy thrusts.
The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, stated this at the inauguration of the Power Sector Communications Team, PSCT, a platform aimed at bridging the gap between the power sector and the public through clear, consistent, and transparent communication.
The Minister emphasized that effective communication was crucial in building trust and confidence in the sector, and that the PSCT will play a vital role in achieving this goal.
He said, “We envision a Nigeria where electricity is not just a luxury but a fundamental right. To achieve this, we must work together, and effective communication is key. The PSCT is a vital tool in this endeavour.
“Effective communication is the bedrock of any successful enterprise, and the power sector is no exception. It is a complex sector, often misunderstood and fraught with challenges. The PSCT is our response to this.
“Together, we will transform the power sector from a source of frustration to a catalyst for national growth, he said as he called on all stakeholders, including the media, to support the PSCT in its efforts. By working together, we can create a brighter, more electrified future for Nigeria.”
Also, the Director-General of the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria, NAPTIN, Ahmed Bolaji Nagode, commended the Minister for this initiative and assured him of the cooperation of the agencies in ensuring the success of the PSCT.
Nagode speaking behalf of the agencies under the Ministry of Power, said the collaboration could not have come at a better time than now as Nigerians were beginning to see that provision of adequate electricity is workable as being demonstrated with the present administration.
Earlier, the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ministry of Power, Ms. Dibiaezue-Eke Florence, lauded the Minister for the inauguration, describing it as a milestone that would offer a platform for disseminating the reforms and transformation being carried out in the ministry.
