Lagos — The Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, and Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation, IOGC, have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at enhancing safety, standardization, and quality assurance across Nigeria’s rapidly expanding energy sector.

The Director-General/Chief Executive of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, was ably represented by the Special Adviser to the Director-General on Strategy, Mr. Pious Lawan Manji, and the Group Head, Mechanical, Engr. Ega Ejachi, who received the management team of Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation during a familiarization visit to the Organisation.

In the MD’s opening remarks, he acknowledged and appreciated SON’s sustained commitment to constructive engagement with key stakeholders in the nation’s energy value chain.

IOGC, a Lagos State Government-owned enterprise, plays a strategic role in advancing cleaner and more efficient energy alternatives. The corporation is actively engaged in the establishment and management of Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, stations, development and operation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG plants, promotion of domestic LPG usage, and electric vehicle deployment and conversion initiatives. These interventions align with national efforts to diversify energy sources, promote sustainability, and enhance environmental protection.

Speaking on behalf of the Director-General, the Special Adviser to the Director-General on Strategy, Mr. Pious Lawan Manji, acknowledged SON’s awareness of IOGC’s expanding operations and reaffirmed the Organisation’s readiness to provide the necessary regulatory guidance and technical support.

He further described the company’s engagement with the SON Product Certification – PC-X Programme as a transformative initiative that enhances safety, traceability, and compliance within the CNG value chain. According to him, the PC-X Programme remains instrumental in safeguarding lives and property while promoting transparency and accountability in the energy sector.
