    Angola and Cuba strengthen cooperation in energy domain

    angola+pic14 July 2013, Luanda — The Secretary of State for Energy of Angola, Joaquim Ventura, is paying since Wednesday a visit to Havana, under the reinforcement of cooperation between Angola and Cuba in the electricity sector.

    According to a press note from the Ministry of Energy and Water that reached Angop on Thursday, at its arrival the Angolan delegation was welcomed by the Cuban minister of Energy and Mining, Alfredo Lopez, having discussed the implementation rate of the existing accord between the two countries on energy sector.

    On the occasion, the national director for energy, Belsa da Costa also presented the Plan of Action of the Electricity sector, where it is highlighted the immediate reinforcement of infrastructures, growth of generating the current 1 GW to 9 GW until 2025.

    The plan includes the strategy of empowering the renewable energy, interconnection of isolated systems – creation of national network, expansion of electrification – coverage of 50 per cent to 60 per cent of population until 2025.

    The delegation visited the national dispatch centre of Cuba, to learn about the functioning of the instrument for management and control of the Cuban energetic system.

    They also visited the Thermal power Station “Máximo Gomez” with an installed capacity of 18.4MW.

    The delegation is comprised by national directors and CEOs of ENE-EP and EDEL – EP.
