Lagos — The Dangote Refinery located in Lekki, near Lagos, yesterday, took delivery of 950,000 barrels of crude oil feedstock from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.

This was contained in an S&P Global Commodity Insights report, revealing that the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery was finally set to commence production after years of delays and deferments.

The report disclosed that the OTIS tanker, conveying the crude, loaded a 950,000-barrel cargo of Nigeria’s Agbami crude on December 6, and was on its way to the Lekk port.

“It is expected to arrive later on December 7 at around 1900 GMT,” the report disclosed,
The Dangote refinery was officially commissioned in May but has not commenced crude oil refining due to a lack of feedstock.

The NNPCL owns a 20 per cent stake in the refinery and recently agreed to supply six million barrels of crude oil as feedstock to the Dangote refinery in December.
