    DSS releases Ajaero after NLC strike threat

    Lagos — The Department of State Services, DSS, has released the detained President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero.

    Ajaero was reportedly released few minutes to midnight on Monday on administrative bail.

    He was arrested on Monday morning by DSS personnel at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on his way to attend the Trade Union Congress conference in London.

    Following Ajaero’s arrest, the NLC had threatened a nationwide strike with an ultimatum for the labour leader’s release before midnight on Monday.

    The group had also, following a closed-door meeting with stakeholders in Abuja on Monday,  instructing all its chapters to prepare for a potential nationwide strike.
