Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, stole the spotlight at the just concluded 10th anniversary of the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, SAIPEC 2026, as its Commission Chief Executive, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, was crowned “SAIPEC Amazon” one of the highest individual recognitions of the night.
The award, organisers said, celebrates Eyesan’s exceptional leadership and her pivotal role in strengthening industry engagement within Nigeria’s upstream petroleum sector.
In a parallel honour, the Commission itself received the “SAIPEC Partners Through the Years Award” at the Awards and Dinner Night.
The organisers, the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, PETAN, said the recognition underscores NUPRC’s sustained influence and strategic partnership in shaping the conference’s growth over the past decade.
According to PETAN, the award reflects the Commission’s “outstanding contributions, leadership and sustained impact on the growth and success of SAIPEC over the past ten years.”
The dual honours signal the regulator’s increasing prominence under the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA, as it navigates licensing reforms, investment drive and upstream sector optimisation.
The awards were received on behalf of the Commission Chief Executive by Engr. Joseph Ogunsola, Director of Surface Development at NUPRC.
SAIPEC, organised by PETAN, remains one of sub-Saharan Africa’s flagship upstream platforms, bringing together regulators, indigenous service firms, international operators and policy leaders to chart the future of the oil and gas industry.
