07 September 2012, Sweetcrude, LAGOS – Petrol supply to Lagos consumers has dropped by 50 percent, a development that would most likely worsen the fuel supply situation in Lagos.
Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo, president of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, South-West branch, who disclosed this, said loading of products at the depots have dropped by about 50 per cent.
He said: “A depot, which used to serve about 200 trucks per day, now serves between 90 and 100 trucks per day as a result of product unavailability. Trucks used to load overnight before, but now they close by 4pm daily.”
Some major oil marketers in Lagos also complained on Thursday that they had run out of petrol stock.
The marketers said the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was not supplying them the product as it had claimed.
