Port Harcourt — Aba Power has announced a temporary interruption in electricity supply to customers following a reduction in gas supply to the Geometric Power Aba Limited, GPAL, generation facility.
In a public notice, Aba Power said the gas supply constraint had forced GPAL to temporarily shut down its plant, resulting in the current power outage.
“To minimise the impact of this development on our customers, Aba Power has made arrangements for alternative power supply from NDPHC through the national grid,” the company said.
However, the alternative supply is yet to commence as the National Independent System Operator, NISO, completes the required connection process.
“We are currently awaiting the National Independent System Operator, NISO, to complete the necessary connection process to enable the commencement of supply,” Aba Power said.
The company apologized to customers for the disruption, assuring them that it was taking steps to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.
The development highlights the continuing dependence of power generation on reliable gas supply, with the disruption at GPAL immediately affecting electricity availability to Aba Power customers.
Aba Power appealed to customers for patience and understanding while efforts continue to restore supply.
