16 October 2012, Sweetcrude, ABA – GEOMETRIC Power Systems Limited says its 140-megawatts Aba Integrated Power Project will be ready for operation in the first quarter of 2013.

The $500 million project will commence operation between January and February 2013, contributing to guarantee steady and reliable electricity to the industrial city of Aba and its environs.

Members of the project team, comprising the Project Manager, Group Five of South Africa, Johan Riekert; Project Manager, Pauwels/EMO Africa, Slobodan Bajkovic and Project Manager, ABB/GEC Power Lines, Joseph Otejere, said they were currently engaged in the tightening of the loose ends of the first phase of the project ahead of the scheduled completion.

The power station aims in the main, to serve the industrial clusters at Aba whose productivity and viability have been drastically affected for several years by the inadequacy of the public power supply system from Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
