UGHELLI-NATIONAL coordinator of the Initiative for Better Power Supply, a Non Governmental Organization, NGO, Don Emmanuel Onose, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for appointing Prof Bart Nnaji as the Minister for Power.

Onose in a statement, yesterday, expressed confidence in Prof Nnaji, pointing out that his appointment into the power sector would bring about positive change in the sector.

He said; “we salute the courage of the president in the appointment of Prof Nnaji in the face of all the strong criticism that greeted his nomination as a minister.

“Professor Bart Nnaji should see his appointment as a call to duty in the reform of the power sector. He should see himself as a savant not a master in the Power Holding Company of Nigeria. He should change his leadership behavior and be friendly with the workers.”

Advising him to implement the 50 percent salary increment for PHCN workers as a matter of priority, he urged him to create an atmosphere conducive in the sector for the ongoing reform to be successful.

“He should give peace a chance by calling a meeting of the workers union with a view to finding a lasting solution to the issue of epileptic power supply in Nigeria. We see Professor Bart Nnaji as somebody with foresights and administrative ingenuity in his implementation of some government policies,” he said.
