03 June 2016, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Nigeria’s President, Muh‎ammadu Buhari has received kudos from Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ for taking a bold step to implement the United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP, report on Ogoni land.

National Coordinator for CEPEJ, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, who made the commendation said the development was the fulfillment of APC campaign promise.

The Center urged the President to extend the clean up to other parts of the Niger Delta region devastated by oil spills.

CEPEJ called on all stakeholders to support the federal government in implementing the UNEP report on Ogoni land as it urged the militants destroying oil and gas pipelines to show restraint, as the environment was the only heritage of the people.

The Centre advised politicians not to politicise the clean-up exercise but should give credit to a government that fulfilled its campaign promise.
