31 December 2015, Lagos – The Deputy Managing Director, HongXing Steel Company Limited, Mr. Fen Zhengke has assured workers of the company that management would continue to come up with initiatives and policies that will improve their welfare and safety in the organisation.

Steel pipes manufactured by TPCO in its headquarters, city of Tianjin, the home of China's busiest port.

Zhengke, who represented the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the steel manufacturer, Mr. Andy Lu, said this in an address he presented at the company’s 2015 end of year party that took place in Lagos recently.

He commended members of staff of the company for their support to the company in the outgoing year, even as he said that the company ensured that the welfare of the workers was paramount throughout the year.

According to Zhengke, the chief executive of the company, with his initiatives, is leading HonXing, to a more promising and bright future.

While reviewing the outgoing year, he said: “During the course of the year, we (management) recruited some Nigerian management team, in addition to our dynamic Chinese team, to help us re-strategise and put the company on the road to outstanding result and performance in terms of staff welfare and wellbeing.

“You (workers) have given us encouragement and plenty of support and we on our part promised that we will not let you down. HongXing started eight years ago from nothing to become something. Some of you are living witnesses right from the beginning when we started, and today, we have grown bigger, better and stronger.

“We are not only a foreign company here, but also a friend to Nigeria and Nigerians. We are linking and connecting the bridge between China and Nigeria. As a big family, every one of us contributes to the common goal of this family and that is why we are gaining honours.”

In the light of the celebration, some workers in the company were rewarded for their long years of service and dedication to the company.

In his address, the company’s Group Head, Human Capital Management, Yemi Adeoye, stressed the need for team-building and co-operation in order to attain the goal of the organisation.

According to Adeoye, when workers in any organisation work as a team, it would always be easy to achieve the objective of the organisation.

“Our staff members  are our greatest assets, our staffs are valuable and without them we can’t have the company. For next year, we have a lot of programmes line up to encourage team-building. We want to increase staff welfare in 2016,” he said
